Democrats rack up huge wins in critical battleground state of Wisconsin
While the world fretted over whether or not Donald Trump would commit unspeakable war crimes yesterday, Americans in Wisconsin went to the polls and delivered a resounding message to the Republican Party: you are not fit to govern. Democrats expanded their majority on the state Supreme Court to 5-2 with the victory of Chris Taylor over Republican Maria S. Lazar in a 20-point trouncing, while Alicia Halvensleben defeated state Rep. Scott Allen for mayor in the Republican suburban stronghold of Waukesha. In Ripon, the literal birthplace of the Republican Party, Justice Taylor beat her Republican opponent by 5%. That’s what we in the biz like to call “the writing on the wall” for the Republican Party’s 2026 chances. Now it falls to the rest of us to make a lasting blue majority a reality.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump backs down, announces vague temporary ceasefire with Iran after threatening World War III
The good news? We did not start World War III last night. The bad news? Donald Trump is still cosplaying as Temu Emperor of the World, and his wardrobe is officially empty.
The imbecile-in-chief announced via Truth Social last night that he had graciously signed off on to a two-week ceasefire with Iran — at the behest of intermediary Pakistan — then laid out vague, threadbare terms to which the US government had ostensibly agreed. Trump claimed to have received a 10-point plan from Iran, which he described as a “workable basis on which to negotiate” (concepts of a plan, anyone?), while also claiming he was agreeing to a temporary ceasefire because “we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives.” Wait, we have? Then why did we threaten genocide just yesterday? Oh, never mind.
It’s abundantly clear there is no coherent strategy for ending Trump’s catastrophic war of choice. And while we all obviously welcome any temporary cessation to the carnage and chaos in the Middle East, meaningful change simply will not come about until Republicans on Capitol Hill get off their asses and assert some semblance of congressional authority to finally rein in their belligerent ringleader.

Trump gets nightmare news as his top impeachment witness launches run for Senate
Alexander Vindman for Senate: Alexander Vindman made history as one of the primary witnesses in the first impeachment case against Trump — and now he’s running for Senate so he can hold the wannabe dictator accountable from the halls of Congress. Vindman has vowed to take on “a Republican Party that’s failing to deliver accountability and underwriting chaos and corruption,” but to win in Florida, he’s going to need some help. Can you chip in to help kick-start his run?
Iran war ceasefire is already being tested just hours after it was announced
Despite the announcement of a two-week ceasefire, the conflict appears to still be ongoing across the Middle East. Iran is reporting airstrikes on an oil refinery at Lavan Island, the UAE is reporting ballistic missile attacks, Kuwait says they intercepted a wave of Iranian drones, and Israel is perpetrating a massacre of civilians in downtown Beirut. Confusion reigns as Pakistan, the ceasefire negotiator, claims that the deal includes Lebanon, which the Israelis reject and Trump has refused to clarify. Iran claims that no ships will pass through the Strait of Hormuz until the killing in Lebanon stops. A complete and utter clusterfuck that we must remind everyone was entirely preventable and completely unnecessary.

Republican senator laughably claims Trump “wants a balanced budget”
Florida Republican Rick Scott wants everyone to know that Donald Trump reaaalllly “wants a balanced budget,” despite overseeing the largest increase to the national deficit in a single presidential term in US history and signing into law the largest tax cuts for the mega-wealthy in US history — all with Scott’s help, of course. Donald’s Big Bill of Bullshit, which Scott dutifully helped pass last year, is also expected to add trillions more to our already exploding deficit. Oh, and Donald’s latest budget proposal for 2027 includes a $500 billion increase in defense spending. It’s definitely adding up, but it sure ain’t looking anywhere close to balanced.

Trump reveals who’s really going to pay for his ridiculous, 250-foot-tall arch
Anyone wanna take a guess who’s gonna pay for Donald’s obnoxious “Arch de Trump?” It’s all of us. You. Your friends and neighbors. Your senior relatives living on fixed incomes. 80-year-old Walmart greeters and 16-year-old burger flippers alike. Cool stuff, yeah? Lord Goldemort is seeking $15 million in taxpayer funds from the National Endowment for the Arts to build the massive archway across from the Lincoln Memorial, flatly contradicting earlier promises that the vanity project would be privately funded with leftover donations from his idiotic ballroom. We’d ask how many more times we’re going to let this two-bit huckster get away with the grifting, but we kinda feel like we already know the answer…
Republicans hold onto MTG’s congressional seat in deep-red Georgia, but Democrats post largest swing yet in special House elections since ’24
Sure, Republicans held onto Marjorie Taylor Greene’s congressional seat in deep-red Georgia last night, but Democrats overperformed by historic margins in yet another special House election — an ominous sign for Donald Trump ahead of November’s midterms. Greene won reelection in 2024 by nearly 30%, while the MAGA cult leader carried the district by a whopping 37%. Last night, Democrat Shawn Harris came within 12 points of knocking off Republican Clay Fuller, who dutifully wrapped himself in MAGA flags, headwinds be damned. The 25-point swing against America’s wannabe dictator is the largest to date in special elections since he won the presidency in 2024. More where that came from, please.
Trump threatens CNN over its Iran coverage moments after announcing ceasefire plan
So desperate to couch whatever’s going on with his catastrophic war of choice in the Middle East as a great personal victory, America’s wannabe dictator is threatening to sic the FCC on news outlets for daring to…report the news. Trump fired off a seething threat against CNN Tuesday night in response to its reporting Iran had claimed a “great victory” over the US following the president’s announcement to delay his ceasefire deadline by two weeks.
Again, CNN simply reported what actually happened. And for that unforgivable transgression, our vainglorious president threatened to have his government investigate CNN for committing “a crime.” What crime, you ask? Publishing a post on its live blog detailing the official Iranian government announcement of the ceasefire. Seriously.
Pope Leo condemns Trump’s “unacceptable” threat to destroy Iran
You know you’ve crossed a truly dubious line when the frickin’ pope — and a US-born pope at that — makes a public appearance to condemn your actions as “truly unacceptable” and a fundamental affront to morality and basic human decency, not to mention international law. Donald Trump has achieved something truly historic this week: he mustered public condemnations from Pope Leo and Alex Jones in the same week, for the same thing. Funny hats off to you, sir!
