Senate Republicans cave after Trump berated them at Capitol meeting, hold new Iran war powers vote to appease him
Welp, that didn’t take long. Whatever semblance of courage four Republican senators seemed to muster yesterday evaporated into the late-night ether after an apoplectic dressing down from Dear Leader at the Capitol. Following Tuesday’s successful vote in the upper chamber to block Donald Trump’s war in Iran, the wannabe dictator dashed down the street for a face-to-face gaslighting session, where he harangued Sens. Bill Cassidy (LA), Rand Paul (KY), Lisa Murkowski (AK), and Susan Collins (ME) for their momentary lapse of fealty.
Late last night, the Senate introduced yet another, nearly identical war powers resolution, and, wouldn’t you know it, Republicans capitulated, giving Trump all the wiggle room needed to continue running his costly misadventure further into the ground.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Federal judge issues “blockbuster” ruling smacking down Trump’s SAVE database
A federal judge in Washington, DC, issued a consequential ruling earlier this week, smacking down the president’s brazen attempt to effectively steal the upcoming midterm elections with an unprecedented invasion of Americans’ constitutionally protected privacy. US District Judge Sparkle Sooknanan ruled that the Trump regime acted unlawfully when it created a centralized database containing Americans’ private information, which — surprise, surprise — has since been used to illegally remove US citizens from active voter rolls.
Brian Tyler Cohen spoke with elections law expert and frequent thorn in Trump’s autocratic side Marc Elias, who called the ruling nothing short of a “blockbuster” on the latest episode of “Democracy Watch.”

Paralympian Democrat Josh Turek goes for gold in must-win Senate race in Iowa
Josh Turek for US Senate: Josh Turek is a two-time Paralympic gold medalist for Team USA and self-described “prairie populist” currently representing the reddest state House seat held by a Democrat in all of Iowa. The same grit and determination that helped Josh overcome 21 surgeries by the age of 12 to become a US Paralympian will serve him — and all of Iowa — well in the US Senate, but he needs our help to win back the open seat currently held by retiring Republican Joni Ernst. Will you chip in to help Josh flip this critical seat back into the blue column and send an unmistakable message to Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress that a new day is dawning in America?
American soldiers claim Pete Hegseth downplayed severity of Iran war wounds
Two American soldiers wounded in Donald Trump’s idiotic Iran war have accused the Pentagon of minimizing the severity of their injuries. The pair suffered serious shrapnel wounds, traumatic brain injuries, and hearing and vision loss — injuries that required months of recovery but were nonetheless downplayed by a Defense Department eager to paint the rosiest of pictures.
Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth said in March that “almost 90%” of the roughly 400 American service members wounded during the conflict with Iran suffered only minor injuries and had already returned to duty, which is a really convenient way of papering over serious casualties to dozens of US servicemembers. Ya know, the kind of news that just might’ve swayed an already uneasy public about the wisdom of Trump’s decision to pre-emptively launch yet another war in the Middle East.

House Republicans back Trump’s ridiculous and costly Department of War name change
The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that the MAGA cult leader’s ridiculous Department of War rebranding fiasco could cost taxpayers up to $125 million. In times like these, when runaway cost-of-living and affordability concerns weigh heavily on most Americans’ minds, it’s comforting to know the GOP is laser focused on the issues that matter most on Main Street. When Republicans suddenly rediscover their affection for fiscal responsibility after the midterms, let us all remember the many foolish and costly follies they insisted on ramming down the American public’s throat when they were in the majority.

New study reveals how much young people have to struggle to buy homes
With home prices rising to a whopping 3.5 times the median income for Americans under 40 — surging nearly triple the rate of wage growth — the once-sacrosanct American dream of homeownership has quietly been foreclosed on for an entire generation. Oh, and our petulant grifter-in-chief also just torpedoed the biggest bipartisan housing bill in decades to extort the Senate into passing his authoritarian and definitely unconstitutional voter suppression law. Priorities, eh? We literally cannot afford to let Donald and his Republican clown caucus “lead” us any longer.
