Leave it to Ted Cruz to go lower than all the rest in the Senate to keep epidemiologist and lifelong Michigander Abdul El-Sayed out of Congress. Is El-Sayed a threat to American sovereignty and security by virtue of simply being Muslim? According to Ted, yes!
Fun fact: there are approximately five million Muslim Americans, hundreds of whom serve in public office across dozens of states. Does Ted think they, too, are existential threats to our security? Also, yes!
“I believe Abdul El-Sayed is Muslim Brotherhood,” Cruz wrote on nüTwitter without an iota of evidence. “There’s every reason to believe El-Sayed would share that classified information with Muslim Brotherhood terrorists,” he lied.
The blatant racism and Islamophobia is as clear and disgusting as it is sad and predictable. Two weeks before the election, and Republicans have nothing but hate, hate, hate, and more hate.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate, has experienced brutal, bipartisan blowback for his depraved attack ad featuring Democratic opponent Amy Acton’s estranged mother, who sided with her husband OVER HER OWN DAUGHTER after she accused the man of sexually assaulting her as a child.
An unapologetic Ramaswamy defended the unconscionable ad and said the public simply needs to be aware of who Acton is before choosing the state’s next governor, but we aren’t sure the gravity of his error has sunk in quite yet. At a campaign stop yesterday, Vivek was publicly confronted by one particularly anger voter, offering just a glimpse of how badly the gubernatorial wannabe has miscalculated here.
As Brian Tyler Cohen notes, you really have to be “a colossal piece of shit” to double down on this level of depravity. Welp, good on Vivek for letting Ohioans know exactly who he is before they head to the ballot box next month, we guess?

Bush announced via Facebook that he had cast his early ballot for Democrat James Talarico, despite spending most of his life as a Republican. “I voted early today, and I voted for James Talarico for the United States Senate,” Bush wrote, arguing that character “matters more than party affiliation.”

Trump says he’ll lead us into a “time of Christianity that no one else can do”
Speaking at a MAGA pep rally in Kansas this week, Donald Trump put his very pious Christian bona fides on full display. “I have the all-time, in history, Christian vote. I have the evangelical vote, the Christian vote. I have by — I know more, I know more than anybody,” the serial grifter accused of serious sexual misconduct by more than two dozen women explained.
Trump then launched into an off-the-teleprompter anecdote about “a certain pastor from a place in Dallas, Texas,” who, in Donald’s words, accurately predicted back in 2015 that he and only he could save America from its “downward trajectory” and “lead us to a period of time in Christianity that nobody else can do.” The pastor in question, Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church in Dallas, also claimed at the time that then-President Barack Obama was “paving the way” for the Antichrist.
The MAGA cult leader put a big red bow on his messiah complex riff, declaring that “[Jeffress] turned out to be right” — a conclusion we just might agree with, albeit for very different reasons.
House Republican says “we gotta investigate” Elon Musk, says billionaire may have broken the law after bombshell report
GOP Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA) called for an investigation into Elon Musk on Tuesday, warning that the world’s richest man-toddler may have broken the law by reportedly ordering a slowdown of a critical satellite service used by Ukraine’s military to defend itself against Russian aggression.
Musk flatly pointed the finger at the Trump administration earlier, claiming that only the US military could order such a throttling of the service, which left Ukraine exposed to devastating Russian drone and missile strikes that claimed that lives of multiple civilians. But a damning Wall Street Journal report claims that Musk personally ordered a slowdown of Starshield, the military-grade version of Starlink used by Ukraine, restricting connection speeds and rendering many Ukrainian drones inoperable.
Fitzpatrick spoke with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins yesterday, who asked the congressman directly: “Is it clear to you who is responsible for this? Is it Elon Musk?” He responded, “Well, that’s what the report says, but we gotta investigate. We gotta call the witnesses, gotta bring ’em in, put ’em under oath, and get to the bottom of it because this is a very, very serious matter. It cannot be glossed over. We cannot just move past this. This is a serious, serious issue because lapsing Starshield in that matter — that costs human lives. There’s gotta be consequences to that.”
