Donald wasn’t done with the dumbening, of course, noting that “now all we need is an ocean. So maybe we’ll have to change the name of the Atlantic and/or the Pacific. Maybe we’ll change them both.”
Will any of this obnoxious shithousery lower our grocery bills? Or reopen the Strait of Hormuz? Or bring back the 18 US service members who died because of Trump’s idiotic war? Or make healthcare more affordable? Or replenish our depleted military stockpiles? Of course not. But it will play well in the jankiest MAGA nooks and crannies on the internet, so onward we plunge into the abyss of uncharted stupidity. It is so good to be great again!

You’re trying to tell us that the guy who used to snort cocaine off toilet seats and once staged a fake crime scene in Central Park to make it look like a bear cub was killed by a hit-and-run cyclist and cut off the penis of a raccoon and decapitated a beached whale and tied the head to the roof of his family station wagon and cheated on one of his wives dozens of times, documenting each tryst in a journal and fired hundreds of qualified experts at HHS and the CDC and the FDA and replaced them with anti-science quacks and has peddled dangerous misinformation about the safety of vaccines for decades and might still have a worm eating part of his brain wasn’t telling the truth during his Senate confirmation hearing?! You don’t say!
Grand jury says Gov. DeSantis “misused” $10 million in Medicaid funds
Well, well, well. If it isn’t ol’ Gov. Puss in Boots making very unfortunate headlines again down south. According to a newly revealed Florida grand jury report from earlier this year, someone with a lot of sway in the state government managed to move $10 million from a state Medicaid settlement, to a charity tied to Ron DeSantis’ wife, Casey, to a pair of dark-money PACs, and finally into a right-wing campaign to help kill a marijuana legalization ballot measure the governor personally opposed.
Unfortunately, the grand jury could not determine who specifically directed the transfer of the funds, so no charges will be filed.
“While we can’t prove who is responsible, we can plainly see that taxpayer money was misused for political purposes and we would like to see changes made to prevent this from happening again,” the grand jury concluded.
When asked about the revelation on Thursday, DeSantis claimed the only crime committed was the leaking of the grand jury report. Riiight.
Democrats to investigate “miraculous” rise of Trump Jr.’s investment firm
Rep. Jamie Raskin and House Judiciary Democrats are curious about how Don Jr.’s venture capital firm, 1789 Capital, went from being valued at a few million dollars to nearly $3 billion over the course of a single year.
“With Don Jr.’s new leadership role, 1789 Capital has developed an uncanny ability to identify companies that are about to receive massive influxes of cash from the Trump Administration or to benefit from significant changes in federal policies and regulations,” Raskin writes. “They say there is no such thing as a sure thing in investing, but this is about as close as you can get.” It is “impossible to believe that your firm’s astonishing growth and success are due to anything other than insider political influence and thorough corruption,” says Raskin in a letter to the company.
Given the rampant, out-in-the-open corruption occurring on a daily basis in Trump’s Washington, it’s a safe bet that something incredibly illegal is going on here.

Many of these attacks are major scientific integrity violations, including political interference in studies, censoring federal scientists from speaking publicly, disbanding advisory committees of experts, and restricting access to key public health data. When a sitting Republican governor in a deep-red state like Wyoming is publicly calling out the alarming and overly aggressive presence of Donald Trump’s so-called “election monitors,” you know the train has gone way off the tracks.
Democrats in Congress are already preparing for Trump midterm election interference
Congressional Democrats are preparing for a new kind of midterm challenge: the risk that President Trump will attempt to undermine November’s elections by claiming fraud or interfering in the voting process.
At the center of their effort is a task force of at least 11 senators, as well as staff and a constellation of outside experts and groups convened by top congressional Democrats to protect against what Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer describes as “direct threats posed by President Trump and MAGA Republicans.”
Members have already played a central role in challenging preelection maneuvers by the administration — including efforts to obtain state voter rolls and limit mail-in voting — even as they collectively prepare for an array of scenarios they fear could unfold over the coming 10 weeks. Senate task force staff have a list of roughly 100 possible threats, including the prospect of a national election emergency declaration from the White House and the presence of federal troops and law enforcement at polling locations.
