Top Stories for March 3:

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump hijacks Medal of Honor ceremony for US soldiers to brag about his ballroom
America’s imbecile-in-chief veered off script during a Medal of Honor ceremony for three US soldiers to brag about his taste in curtains and the big, beautiful ballroom he’s “gifting” the country, even if Melania isn’t too crazy about the mess his vanity project has made of the now-demolished East Wing. Donald explained to the crowd — which, again, had gathered to honor the extraordinary sacrifice and service of three US soldiers — that the constant sound of jackhammers pleases him, because it means money is being made. All this on the same day that we learned six US service members have already lost their lives thanks to Trump’s wildly reckless and unauthorized war in Iran. Boy, those Lord Farquaad memes really are on point.

Trump boasts US can fight wars “forever” thanks to “virtually unlimited” weapons supply
The reality TV star who rose to power promising to end America’s foolish and costly “forever wars” wants everyone to know that, thanks to the United States’ “virtually unlimited supply” of weapons, wars can now be successfully “fought forever.” See, it’s totally different if you flip the words around.

These TWELVE races will decide if we can win back the House
Red to Blue: Democratic leadership has just released the list of twelve seats we’re targeting in order to flip the House blue, take back our majority, and put the brakes on Trump’s runaway train of fascism and dictatorship. If we want to have any chance of impeaching Donald Trump, stopping ICE’s terrorizing rampages, and finding out the truth about what Trump is hiding in the Epstein files, we NEED to win these seats. Will you chip in to help take our country back from MAGA extremists?
American death toll in Trump’s Iran war doubles in two days
Donald Trump’s catastrophic decision to launch a preemptive war on Iran has already cost the United States dearly, with six service members killed in the chaotic aftermath of strikes that lacked clear justification or credible evidence of an imminent threat to begin with. The wannabe dictator’s reckless gambit has needlessly shed American blood in a geopolitical debacle that threatens to spiral into a much larger, open-ended conflict with even greater loss of life. Or as our great consoler-in-chief so eloquently put it, “That’s the way it is; likely be more.”
Trump dismisses criticism from Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson over Iran attacks: “MAGA loves what I’m doing”
To be fair, in a personality cult as rabid and irrational as MAGA, Donald may very well be right here. He may lose an occasional ideologue or two, but an alarming number of his followers will inevitably love whatever he instructs them to love, even when it flatly contradicts what he told them to love a month ago.

Marco Rubio refutes Trump’s explanation, says US strikes on Iran triggered by Israel’s plan to launch attack
Somebody in Trumpland might wanna convene a quick meeting so Donald’s galoots can get their stories straight on exactly why we’re at war with Iran. To hear Sec. of State Marco Rubio tell it, the United States’ hand was forced by Israel, which was going to attack Tehran with or without American support.
“It was abundantly clear that if Iran came under attack by anyone — the United States or Israel or anyone — they were going to respond, and respond against the United States,” Rubio told reporters at the Capitol. Rubio’s claim that we were coerced into preemptively punching Iran in the face because they would eventually punch us in the face as soon as Israel punched them in the face is a curious one, and it sure doesn’t make it sound like Trump is calling his own shots.
Meanwhile, JD Vance was assuring the nation Trump’s rationale was to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities, even though we “completely and totally obliterated” those very facilities last summer. If you’re beginning to think Donald and his imperial goon squad are just making shit up as they go, you are not alone.
GOP senator who never served in military shredded for comments about “smell” of war
Oklahoma Republican and man so tough his mama named him twice Markwayne Mullin was raked across the coals Monday for comments he made about the “smell” of war despite never serving in the military, much less combat, himself. During a television interview yesterday, the cosplay cowboy was in a serious boot-lickin’ mood, heaping praise on Donald Trump for being “the first president in 47 years to actually have a backbone to do something about Iran” and repeatedly referring to Sec. of War Crimes Pete Hegseth has “president.”
But Mullin really stepped in it when he said this: “War is ugly. It smells bad. And if anybody has ever been there and been able to smell the war that’s happening around you, and taste it, and feel it in your nostrils, and hear it, it’s something that you’ll never forget. And it’s ugly.” The blowback was swift and unforgiving. Democratic Rep. Pat Ryan, a West Point graduate and Army intelligence officer who served two combat tours in Iraq, posted a scathing tweet asking Mullin “what the actual fuck are you talking about? Did I miss the part of your bio where you served in combat (or served in uniform at all??). Call of Duty doesn’t count.”
Ron DeSantis spent $1.2M per day to open and operate “Alligator Alcatraz”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis spent an astounding $1.2 million of taxpayers’ money per day to open and operate the notorious immigration concentration camp known as “Alligator Alcatraz,” court records obtained by the independent investigative news website The Florida Tributary reveal. A convenient switch in position by Donald Trump’s administration also now looks likely to leave Florida on the hook for at least $608 million spent on the detention and deportation facility and other immigration jails in the Sunshine State, the outlet said. That was despite gloating by DeSantis in September that the state would be reimbursed from federal funds. Oops.
Trump won’t rule out boots on the ground in Iran
Mr. No More Wars is now hedging his bets on boots on the ground in Iran, a line he repeatedly vowed to never cross when he campaigned on ending America’s “forever wars” in the Middle East. My, how times and an unrelenting pedophile sex trafficking scandal have changed the calculus.
US Embassy in Jerusalem issues stark warning to Americans attempting to flee as Iran conflict escalates
The US Embassy in Jerusalem is advising Americans in Israel that they can leave the country via taxi or shuttle, but if they do so, their safety cannot be guaranteed. Current government advice is for US citizens to shelter in place and make their own security arrangements, with flights canceled across the board as Israel enters a fourth day of war with Iran. While the Israeli Ministry of Tourism has begun operating shuttles to the Taba Border Crossing with Egypt as of Monday, the official US State Department position is apparently “you do you, but don’t blame us if shit goes sideways.” Hours earlier, the State Department had included Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza in a list of regions from which Americans should “DEPART NOW” due to “serious safety risks.”
Trump’s doctor offers curious explanation for nasty new neck rash
The 79-year-old MAGA cult leader showed up for a public appearance at the White House yesterday sporting a nasty new neck rash, prompting fresh questions about his ailing health. Dr. Sean Barbarella released a statement that addressed the symptom, ignored the ailment, and fueled rampant online speculation: “President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House doctor. The president is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.” Well okay, then. Clearly nothing more to see here, other than the bright, red, scaly rash itself, of course.
