Trump blames “Radical Left Lunatics” for Rudy Giuliani’s hospitalization
The president of the United States lashed out at his political opponents on Sunday night, concluding that somehow it’s Democrats’ fault that Rudy Giuliani, the philandering, cigar-chomping, 81-year-old booze hound, was hospitalized for an undisclosed medical condition. “What a tragedy that he was treated so badly by the Radical Left Lunatics, Democrats ALL — AND HE WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING! They cheated on the Elections, fabricated hundreds of stories, did anything possible to destroy our Nation, and now, look at Rudy!” Trump screamed into the void of Truth Social.
Trump Derangement Syndrome is very real, except that phrase just describes the president’s own deteriorating mental state. We really have entered uncharted territory for Democrat-blaming. Next we’ll be responsible for the poor harvest that’s coming because farmers don’t have any fertilizer…which is *actually* Trump’s fault!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Gavin Newsom discusses the gravity of last week’s SCOTUS Voting Rights Act ruling and how Democrats must fight back
The Democratic governor of California spoke with Brian Tyler Cohen over the weekend and laid bare the catastrophic consequences of last week’s heinous Supreme Court Ruling that shredded 61 years of legal precedent with the gutting of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Republicans are already declaring states of emergency and trying to suspend ongoing elections so they can redraw maps to disenfranchise Black voters, a scheme that, according to Newsom, could eventually net the GOP 19 or 20 more seats in the US House by 2028. Newsom said it’s time for reliably blue states like New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Illinois, and Colorado to fight fire with fire and respond in kind.
Do we need a federal ban on gerrymandering? Absolutely. Will that happen anytime soon? Obviously, no. Can Democrats afford to sit back and watch Republicans wage an asymmetrical war on democracy in the meantime and cement indefinite one-party rule? Absolutely not.

Anti-corruption crusader takes on one of the most corrupt Republicans in Congress
Page Cognetti for Congress: Paige Cognetti was elected mayor of Scranton, PA, on a platform of cleaning up the grift and the graft that sapped away so many important public resources. She did such a good job that Pennsylvania voters re-elected her twice — and now she’s aiming to do the same in Congress. So devoted to anti-corruption that she won’t even use a government car, Cognetti is in a perfect position to take out Republican Rob Bresnahan, who got elected promising to end insider trading and then immediately became one of the most prolific insider traders in Congress. Will you chip in to help Paige Cognetti clean up Republican corruption and flip the House blue?
Republicans draft Iran war authorization to grant Trump more time to continue waging war he claimed would only last a few weeks
Donald Trump’s shambolic misadventure in Iran blew past the 60-day mark where Congress is theoretically required by law to step up and do its job. According to our pesky Constitution, presidents can’t just wage endless military battles, and only Congress has the authorization to formally declare an actual war. Our wannabe dictator knows this on some level, which is why he declared “hostilities” in Iran ended with the fragile ceasefire that may or may currently be in place. Should fighting resume, according to the Trump regime, it would technically be a “new” mission.
Republicans in the Senate know this argument is bogus, so they’re teeing up a resolution to authorize further fighting, giving their cult leader who spent the last decade promising America “no more wars” the green light to, well, wage more war. Any questions?

Trump says it’s “treasonous” to say US not winning war in Iran
America’s nincompoop-in-chief thinks it’s tatamount to treason — a crime punishable by death — for anyone to trust their own eyes and ears and conclude his cataclysmic war of choice in Iran has not been a success. According to a new Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, Americans remain deeply skeptical of the conflict, with only 19% of respondents believing military operations in Iran have been successful. A whopping 39% say the mission has not succeeded. We’re no mathletes here at Daily Dose of Democracy, but that sure sounds like a whole lotta treason. Wait, is this why Donald wants to bring back firing sqads?

Trump and GOP push for aggressive voter roll purges up until Election Day, testing precedent
Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies are well aware a blue wave is coming in November, and they have decided the only way out of the mess of their own making is to cheat, steal, and disenfranchise millions. Purging voter rolls is just one more tool in their authoritarian belt, and lord knows they’re gonna try to use it.
For decades, it’s generally been assumed that any mass purges of voter rolls had to be completed at least 90 days out from an election. Federal law prohibits last-minute purges for good reason: voters who are mistakenly caught up in such removals need adequate time to get back on the rolls. But in the age of Trump, precedents mean nothing, and laws deemed inconvenient to maintaining his grip on power can simply be ignored.
If you can’t beat them, erase them.
Josh Shapiro ally caught on tape saying the governor secretly boosted a GOP candidate to get revenge on a Democrat who crossed him
Democrat Erin McClelland publicly criticized Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro for sweeping sexual harassment claims against one of his top aides under the rug, so he retaliated by asking a firefighters’ union to endorse her Republican opponent in the state’s election for treasurer in 2024. McClelland would go on to lose her race to Republican Stacy Garrity. Definitely don’t need this kind of energy in our Democratic Party, people!
Trump calls for Hakeem Jeffries to be impeached for bashing “illegitimate” Supreme Court
The MAGA cult leader took to his social media platform to ask why Rep. Hakeem Jeffries “isn’t subject to impeachment” after the House minority leader torched the Supreme Court’s ruling gutting the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Donald implored House Republicans to start impeachment proceedings against Jeffries, suggesting it’s only fair since he himself was once impeached over a “PERFECT PHONE CALL.” Trump was referring to the $400 million quid pro quo he dangled before Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2019 in a failed bid to drum up fake dirt on Joe Biden.
Not that it matters, but Jeffries cannot be impeached. He can be expelled by a two-thirds majority vote, but that would require approximately 75 Democrats to cross party lines to oust one of their own.
For a guy who swore to uphold the Constitution, Donald sure doesn’t seem to know what’s in it.
