While his Republican colleagues took no offense to the Islamophobic missive earlier this year, they weren’t as forgiving this time around, eventually forcing the sentient jock strap to delete yesterday’s post altogether. Ogles did not apologize for the tweet, of course, but he did claim the unnamed staffer who took the fall for him had been “reprimanded.” Got it.

Adam Hamawy, a former US Army combat surgeon who saved Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s life and volunteered to treat children in the Israeli genocide of Gaza in 2024, defeated a crowded field of 12 other candidates to become the Democratic nominee in New Jersey’s reliably blue 12th District. But he was forced to overcome a slew of right-wing media smears about his brief testimony at the trial of Omar Abdel-Rahman, who was convicted of plotting terror attacks in 1995, and did so admirably with the help of supporters like AOC and streamer Hasan Piker.

“Any Muslim is going to be called a terrorist at some point, and these tropes are outdated and worn. Unfortunately, they continue to be used right now,” Hamawy told The New Jersey Monitor. “These are not serious arguments, and they’re getting old.” Voters clearly agreed.
