The Trump administration just announced it is sending ships to dismantle 900 deep-sea instruments across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, removing our eyes and ears from one of the most scientifically important parts of the ocean.

These vital devices are being removed because they are used to track the effects of greenhouse gas and to monitor the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Current, a critical global conveyor belt of water that scientists fear is in danger of collapsing – and the ecological consequences would be devastating.

Defend NOAA and protect our ocean’s eyes and ears!

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the Trump administration’s new proposed FY27 budget includes MAJOR cuts to NOAA programs and staffing, threatening critical ocean, climate, and weather research.

This affects ALL of us. NOAA helps our communities prepare for hurricanes, floods, and other extreme weather events that are hitting faster and harder than ever before, due to climate change.
